Spotted,

<If they lose they lose>

Well, when I see news like this, I don't think Martin is going to give up without a fight:

Liberals say they will ignore Conservative non-confidence motion

Martin doesn't give a darn about Canadians, he has basically gone against all his policies on prudent budgetmaking just to try to keep their seats. If they wanted to have a chance in a new election, they wouldn't be behaving like children.

I don't think there is much difference between Canada and the US, and as we found after Bush's first contentious win, the Supreme Court Judges did bugger all to protect the rights of the people. Laws don't really protect the parties they're designed to protect. I have zero expectations of a just outcome, that way I can be pleasantly surprised if the nation doesn't slide into anarchy.

Tommaso made the point that the Loonie weakened on the repeal of the lowering of tax rates that the NDP wanted. I think it is more complex, and involves a general 'flight to safety' to the USD in the expectation of slightly higher rates and growth than other nations. If we don't get that, though theLoonie could benefit again.
