Nothing is perfect out there, especially healthcare. But still a whole heck of a lot better than our American counter parts :) Cheaper too...

I hadn't heard that in the States there were hundreds of Americans unable to find a doctor. I know that while many do not have health care, it is available to those who can afford it when they need it. Comparing the problems in the US "the poor can't afford health care" to the problem in Southern Ontario nobody but politicians get timely health care is not suitable. Saying it is fine to delay Cancer treatment because we don't have enough machinery or doctors or technicians, or that long waiting times for the removal of cataracts or knee surgery is simply wrong. Saying that it is fine to wait for weeks for an MRI or other treatments means that you comparison with the costs of the US system are useless simply because they have these treatments available if you can afford them. We preen and posture but the treatments are simply not available....
There was for instance a treatment for wet macular degeneration that was widely available in the US long before it was available in Canada. It was developed in Canada but we used a much more damaging less effective treatment because it was less expensive. When Canada uses less effective treatments to save money and people are effectively blinded by that particular saving, can we really consider our system as better?????
