They aren't asking anything from government except to be left alone.

I don't keep up with gun issues. Is the gun lobby satisfied with the status quo--the current restrictions? Or does it want them undone? If it wants them undone, you could say that it wants something (action) from the government. It seems to me that any group that lobbies to have a law done or undone, any group that has a lobby, wants something from the government.

But I take your point about just wanting to be left alone. Lobbying to be left alone, such as gun owners, pro-choicers, and the like, is different in character from lobbying to be on the receiving end of some favor or redistribution.

You could say that wealthy investors, another group mentioned along with the gun owners, just want to be left alone, too, left with their money, that is.

You could also say that pro-choice is the conservative position and the pro-lifers are the nannies.
