My property taxes are so low I could care less if they hang onto the money for six months. The interest penalty on a late tax payment is very high in my county. I've had the idiots in the Comptrollers office or the post office lose my personal property tax payments (for my business) before so I'd just as soon have the lender pay it electronically. I've noticed most of the mortgage companies advertise lower interest rates if you escrow your taxes and insurance. The class action lawyers have made them clean up their act so it is less likely they will wind up with a penny over the legal limit on the escrow.
