Murdoch became a US citizen so he could own US media. He recently bought the most expensive apartment ever in Manhattan ($US47 million). He has a "ranch" (we'd probably say a "property" in Australian) near Canberra though still. He is one of those cool guys :) More interesting I think than the wealthiest Aussie citizen Kerry Packer, another media mogul. PS. What high Aussie taxes - it is easy to get out of the supposedly high marginal rates in Aus - no AMT. Living in NYC though the marginal tax rate is only a little below the Aus top rate. c. 45% vs. 47% or so.
