No it isn't. In fact, Lincoln expands God's will to a perspective much higher than what each side was praying for.

Lincoln says: "The Almighty has His own purposes." And that says it all. It establishes that God's agenda is separate from man's. To try to second guess God is folly. That's why a separation of church and state is imperative.

But there is even a more compelling reason for why issues of theology should be kept of out the affairs of state, and that is, no one knows for sure whether God exists or not.
