No it isn't. In fact, Lincoln expands God's will to a perspective much higher than what each side was praying for. Lincoln says: "The Almighty has His own purposes." And that says it all. It establishes that God's agenda is separate from man's. To try to second guess God is folly. That's why a separation of church and state is imperative. But there is even a more compelling reason for why issues of theology should be kept of out the affairs of state, and that is, no one knows for sure whether God exists or not. ted
