Not true. Is the Ford Escape hybrid lighter than the conventional one? I don't think so. Face it, we can improve mileage and not cut safety or comfort. Hybrid technology is just getting started. Stick to the facts. Just another example of the strange morphing of "conservatives" into modern day ludites. Why oppose technological innovation? I having a feeling it won't matter anyway. If gas prices head to $3.00 in coming years, the consumers will demand more efficient vehicles and automakers will turn to hybrid technology and it will come down in price, and will eventually become the norm. There are options we can persue as a nation to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
