Hi MJ,

Rumors are indeed flying:

thestreet.com

yahoo.reuters.com

Both stocks were up strongly, both on 6 times normal volume:

AMTD:

139.142.147.218

ET:

139.142.147.218

But note that both are in downtrends:

139.142.147.218

139.142.147.218

Chart support for both is at about $10, and that's where I would be looking to buy. They are both relatively oversold, and near support.

I think the mo-mo crowd got hold of both these today, and they will leave just as quickly as they arrived, and both will settle back down. I would not buy either one, personally. And if anything, I would consider shorting them. I have not looked at either from that standpoint in any detail, but generally when you have excessive bullishness in the options pits in stocks whose charts do not warrant that kind of bullishness, then it that is usually a good time to consider a contrarian play.

So if I were trading these, I would be looking at a short position now, then a long position if they can trade back to the solid chart support levels on the charts above.
