Brother, Can Ya’ Spare a Dime?

PoliPundit.com

Check this out:

April 1997

“Discouraged workers” = 379,000 (0.28% of the total workforce).

On the other hand, there’s this:

April 2005

“Discouraged workers” = 393,000 (0.26% of the total workforce).

Next stop: Hooverville.

P.S. - In labor market parlance, “discouraged workers” essentially means people who recently gave up looking for employment because they felt no jobs were available for them.
