Hi tfn. ..I'm glad you're in, too - twice even....!!! "....Ha ha ha ha................. If you look at all the composite plywood floor joist and laminated (recovered) plywood trusses, etc., that are being used on "..This Old House..", "..Home Again.." and that new "..Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.." program now vs. the big, old, very-expensive, solid-wood 2x12's, 2x16's and 2x24's, etc., you begin to get a grip on the potential market for these recycled plastic-based materials and forms. Plasticons composite 2x4's for decks and railings - with their "..no-maintenance requirement.." and potential for custom colors and/or finishes - is another huge market for both new homes and home inprovement. Their reinforcing rod for road and bridges, etc., that will never rust or corrode in salt environments, is a terrific market also. Bridges with their columns and piers in saltwater, and elevated roads like in the Florida Keys, Norfolk, VA, etc., are all subject to some galvanic action caused by the movement of the tides and the blowing salty sea air. The steel in those structures can be eaten away over a long period of time just like the anodes in a chrome or silver plating process are reduced as that metal is plated onto another surface.. As the outer surface of the steel is slowly removed then more of the core is subjected to the salt air promoting further corrosion and oxidation/rust - which weakens the steel and hastens required replacement. I think we've got a winner here, guys. John :-) .
