Like most big things, you need 60 votes in the Senate. Hmmmm. Ya mean that we still have filibusters? Thought they had been made extinct. Seriously, I'd bet that it can pass as long as all the Reps are on board. Bush's stick only covers seventy percent of the shortfall. Gotta come up with a mechanism for the other thirty percent so I imagine that, when push comes to shove, something can be offered to win over a few Dems, if needed. Just because the Dems aren't sticking their necks out offering additional benefit cuts or to raise taxes doesn't mean that none will vote for the package.
