From a retired professor from QingHua Univ.: the high growth in China during the last 30 years has used up 200 years of natural resources. China should ASAP change its model of growth to High Technology. Every $ of worth GDP in China takes 4 times more of natural resources than that in the US, 7 times more than that in Japan. China is doing a losing money business, especially shortchanges the future generations! He compared the GDP in China as using parts that could assemble a BMW to assemble a Nissan. This type of developing model by pursuing high energy consumption and being a world factory is a strategic mistake on part of China. China now is using expensive nonrenewable natural resources and converting them into cheap low margin product for the rest of the world. This is a very backward model. This model has consumed the natural resources in China for the next 200 years. And it has caused severe environmental pollution. The last 30 years of development in China has used 11 times of natural resources consumed in 300 years in China before 1978. If it is not stopped now, ALL China's natural resources would be gone in the next 50 years! If China does not change its development model, what is waiting for Chinese will be nothing but death! He is calling on China switching its development model ASAP, towards high technology, especially towards bio-tech. China has some advantages in this aspect, and the gov. should make more efforts to help the talent and technology. Bo XiLai recently said, China will have to export 800 millions of shirt in order to buy one single A380 Airbus! And that 800 million shirts perhaps will be enough for all Europeans (in EU) to wear a whole year! My note: as a start, China should cut down coke export, no matter how EU and the US protest. The so-called balanced model for EU and the US is that China should use the best of its own coal, producing as much coke as possible for the rest of the world, and polluting China's own environment at China's own cost of human lives, and sell them to the rest of the world cheaply. The hell with the model! China should produce coke ONLY for itself. Let others produce their own coke, use their own resource, and pollute their own environment!
