No poboys, ever, at G's, though its home baked bread would make for a terrific sandwich. Not that kind of place at all. No Cajun blackened this or that spiced up to the max killing off the flavor of a fine piece of fresh trout or pompano. It's mostly Creole, which is very much different from Cajun.

While it's festive and unpretentious, G's has its own kind of old time, Old Worldish elegance. Waiters in tuxedos who have worked there for decades, jackets required for men. What you would expect from a fine place that has stuck to its guns for 100 years.

I've never been to Paris, but I have been told that it resembles a good neighborhood Parisian bistro.

People are passionate about the place. I certainly am. Though he was not my waiter, the firing of one of the wait staff's stalwarts created a local scandal a few months ago. Read all about it here.
