Correction: Cisco dumped Dell when Dell started to make competing routers. Dell tried to do to routers what they've done to PC's. Fortunately for Cisco, it turned out to be much harder for Dell to commoditize routers than PC's, and Dell appears to have abandoned the router business - at any rate, Cisco is not feeling any preassure for Dell (although there are preassures from other vendors, e.g. Juniper in the high end and Huawei in the mid market) In the low end Cisco is pretty much protected by their purchase of Linksys.
