Whitewater was a big phony scam. The Clintons were innocent and it was trivial matter to begin with. What it really was we now know was a disgusied smear campaign and witch hunt to somehow be able to investigate the president's sex life. Since then the rightwing has waged at least four other highly unethical political attacks. - The phony 2000 energy crisis ripoff they blamed on Grey Davis, who was the victim of it, not the perpetrator - The ripoff of the 2000 election in FLorida (though Nader and Gore also made it close enough to be possible) - The smear campaigns against McCain, Max Cleland and John Kerry, all sterling Silver Star winning war heros. - The use of the Iraq War and terrorism scares to cow voters and help swipe the 2002 and 2004 elections
