The story was broken by the London Times. I just googled it and posted the link that came up. But the same story is in the Chicago Tribune and the LA Times, if you prefer a MS publication. Search it out.

The smoking gun...from the Memo written by the head of MI6:

***Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.***

How else could we interpret the words of Mr. Dearlove? And this memo is the same thing that Clarke and O'Neil have told us about Bush's policy towards Iraq.

Now perhaps the memo is a fake. And perhaps both O'Neil and Clarke are liars.

And perhaps all the fluff about yellow cake and aluminum tubes were really CIA screw ups, even though many intelligence experts rebuffed the memo on the yellow cake as bunk, and our own nuclear experts said that the tubes were not useful for centrifuges.

All through the lead up to the war, unvetted raw data was foisted upon the American people as proof that Saddam had WMD and was connected to Al Qaeda. I say foisted because the Bush Administration turned a deaf ear to any intelligence that was contrary to what they wanted to present.

And this situation matches what was being said by Clarke, O'Neil and now the head of the British intelligence MI6, Mr. Dearlove.

This is probably as much proof as we will ever get on this matter, because of course, all of this was done in closed meetings. Having this memo surface is simply the tip of the iceberg of what went on behind closed doors.

I know the election is over but NEVER AGAIN should be the position of ALL Americans, not just Kerry-supporters. for is such trashy smear campaigns are tolerated, our democracy basically goes right down the toilet. Anyone can say anything about anyone with impunity.
