Correct. I agree. They do not have an obligation. My point is that if they do not offer ideas, they lose. They continue to wither. They have the freedom to choose that path - the path that they have been on for over a decade. The path of continued failure.

What I'm arguing against is your insistence that the Dems have an obligation to affirmatively offer an alternative to Bush's proposal.

You think that they ought to. But your "ought" does not convey any obligation on them. We are "not in this world to live up to other people's expectations."


Huh?

US Congressmen most certainly do have an obligation to correct government errors that affect their constituencies.

That obligation includes but is not limited to entitlements.
