Yah I just read about this robot for the blind and the other day on the computer america talk radio show they had a blind guy using skype to talk to people all over the globe.

theregister.co.uk

My philosophy professor always asked me to describe the color red to a blind person - without the organ to sense it how do you do that? I never could figure out how.

english.people.com.cn

Luckily for blind people artificial eyes are on the way - thier brain will do face recognition, they will just need the artificial organ.

As for experiencing others experiences, from dreamscape to total recall - yes this interests people - putting instant experiences and memories in your mind. I would love to input the experience of the guy who banged michelle pfieffer in her 20's - hehe.

I wrote a message to pearly button over in the boom thread that I did want streaming content, you are 100% right about that - I did not want to archive the 3 stooges on my own GOLD dvd - but have it archived at some central point and streamed out to me by the matrix.

I will use her same example for everyong buying gold CD or DVD to archive thier photos for your translation example, why should I and you and millions and billions of other borg each have the hardware or software to translate german to english - the german will speak or type into his device - it will go to the matrix BRAIN - the brain will do the translation centrally - and stream to me the converted english audio or text - in star trek the central computer is doing the translation - picard and kirk are not wearing seperate translator devices.

There is a service on the web called BABELFISH - I use it all the time, I don't have individual translation software installed on my PC and I stopped using my german to english pocket dictionary ages ago (I lived in germany for several years) - I only have a web browser - I just go to the matrix and let the servers and software there do all the hard work for me.

All you base belong to us!

*hehe - translation joke from the slashdot.org crowd*

Great discussion regli.
