It would be totally icky for me. If the politics were different then they are here- I wouldn't be able to stand it. I can't stand red state religion/politics. I know red states, or red stater enclaves, are full of "fine" people, but they are not the kind of people I would ever feel comfortable socializing with. There's a lot to be said for affinity, comfort and shared values. Unless you want to live alone in the woods, it's good to be able to get along with your neighbors. Anything else is icky for me, no matter how nice the scenery is.
