All the buildings at the WTC had the exterior walls act as carrying beams and supports. The Port Authority saved more money by not putting in a sprinkler system at time of construction. I think the Arabs had very good knowledge that the towers would fall, the other buildings were just an extra gift. With proper construction loss of life would have been in the 400-600 range with damge to 3-4 floors of each tower.
