Bush is deficient in many ways. But "loser"? Wrong word. Karl Rove made him a winner, in large part by running some of the dirtiest campaigns in US history. A smear campaign was involved in every single single campaign Rove ever ran, not to mention all kinds of other dirty tricks. When Rove ran Gov. Clements campaign in Texas, he was behind right before the big debate. That day he called in the FBI and press and pointed to a listening device he'd "discovered" in his office. This of course was blamed on his opponent and did tremendous damage. But only later did the FBI reveal that the battery in the bug had only a 6 hour life and only two hours of it had been used. Therefore, the bug was planted only two hours before the FBI arrived. About the time Rove called the FBI. Now you can see the Dan Rather tainted witness case in a different light. It has Rove written all over it, and of course the smearvets were a Rove operation from start to finish. Rove always uses crony third parties to run the dirty tricks. Just so there's always deniability.
