And the relationship between 9/11 and Iraq is? You want to argue Afghanistan, you'd have a point. But the relationship between Iraq and 9/11 or even some future similar event is a best nebulous and at worst a complete fabrication.

Ok, you can wave your hands around and say that a democratic and stable Iraq would have a domino effect throughout the whole ME, causing it to hold terrorism in low esteem and drive Al Quida and its analogs out of business. But that is, at best, a purely theoretical argument. In the meantime, Iraq is now a breeding ground for terrorists, something that it wasn't before our current adventure there...
