U.S. FIG Rises to 25-Month High
05/06/2005
NEW YORK, May 6 (Reuters) - U.S. inflationary pressure was pushed up to a 25-month high in April by various factors, including home loan activity, the job market and interest rates, but was not out of control, a report said on Friday.

Moves in those measures showing inflation pressure rising were offset in part by moves in measures of supplier deliveries and input prices that suggested price pressures abated in April, the report said.

"Inflationary pressures remain elevated, but given the data we have in hand it doesn't seem that the pressures are out of control," Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of the Economic Cycle Research Institute, the group that publishes the inflation gauge.
