I pretty much just ignore Slagle ever since he said it would be OK if Hitler had won WWII.

PearlyButton, Re: Radiation. The main point I was trying to make is that there is just no way that nuclear power plants will put as much radiation into the enviroment as testing and military use did. Just NO WAY. And so what if there have been fatalities and injuries; untold thousands die in coal mining and other industrial accidents every year. Should we outlaw automobiles? Those things kill 25,000 a year just in this country.

On of the main subjects on this board is the dire crisis the world faces with regard to energy. True believers in the "global warming" concept think that is an even bigger problem. Nuclear power neatly solves them both and I am convinced it is the ONLY available solution.

I was the Georgia delegate to the American Wind Energy Assoc. in 1975 and 1976 and back then had hope that wind and solar might be the ticket. 40 years later I am totally convinced that wind, solar ect. are not the ticket. Nuclear power is.

DU is a real puzzle. Thats one I just dont' get. Sure I understand the "mass velocity squared" advantage in a heavy projectile and I can see how some use for DU would be a real advantage especially if you were up to your neck in the stuff.....but I still don't get it, at least the fairly large scale use of the stuff. I could see the military developing and stockpiling the material, like the Germans and tha Allies did in WWII with poison gas. But why was DU actually used? I don't know.
