Grainne, with all due respect your crazier then a pet racoon.

SSI has run a surplus from the day of it's inception.

The money has been stolen by our government who took it off budget during Vietnam to hide their deficit's running that war. Johnson by the way.

The surplus has been given to our government and is a part of our debt.

If the interest were actually paid on that debt and it was not just a hidden line item off budget they would not even dig into principal until 2010 with no additional monies added.

This system would be self funding forever if above scenario were in place and would survive the boomers retiring and would then begin to build and likely never run out.

By 2015 the interest owed, assuming present day growth of debt and since the best we can agree on is a tinker around the edges which is absurd and naive at best, will exceed gross domestic product. Every f-ing dime earned in this country will not pay the interest supposedly owed to SSI by 2015.

WTF is your definition of bankruptcy?
