Isn't it wonderful how intelligent and caring dogs are? I am so happy to have several of them in my life. Not quite so excited about cats at the moment. My big fluffy orange cat, Butterscotch, would not come in last night, even though it was raining. When we opened the door this morning, there he was, and he had left us what he considered a wonderful present--a rat he had killed, right on our doormat. I have read that cats believe it is totally bizarre that we bring home our kill in grocery bags, when so much delicious food is there just for the foraging. And that is why they leave us such nice gifts. He was very proud of himself, and of course before I knew about any of this, he had jumped up into my bed wanting extensive petting and big kisses. The cats never bring us birds in that way, which makes me feel relieved. I think birds are much harder for fat older cats to catch.
