My number is correct. Don't forget Net Present Value. Today's surpluses (almost $200 Billion) far outweigh a $200 Billion shortfall in 2050.

If you don't think there is a surplus today, then you are arguing for a wealth transfer from low income Americans to high income Americans ... not exactly good public policy!

Another point, your facts are wrong on 2026. According to the SS Administration, SS will be close to balance in 2026. Although SS starts paying out more than it takes in from payroll taxes in 2018, the drop-off is very slow.
