My husband owned a XKE in the late 60's and the fuel pump was a dilly. Every time he had to carry other people he took my car and left me with his. I can't remember how many times I ended up on the side of the road waiting for him to come get me and trade back cars. It never failed to cause the car to die on me when I had that car. I finally told him he needed to get a bigger car so when he needed to carry passengers he did not need mine.

My husband has owned a lot of exotic cars in his time. I think his favorite was the Turbo Carrera Porche. He drove that for ten years and then went to a 500SL Mercedes which he has now been driving for ten years. I love to watch the top being put down on it. It intrigues me. He still looks at all the ads for cars in the paper.

I have been driving my '84 380SL for twenty-one years. It has nothing computerized on it and has been a good car. Wish it had the automatic top though cause it is much harder to put down. I hate to trade it cause it is really easy to drive and when I need speed, it gives it to me fast. Only have 77,000 miles on it and hope it is the last car I have to own. Have a friend that has an '82 with 225,000 miles on it. Mine should be able to get the same or more as I keep it well maintained and don't travel long distances much any more. He works for a mercedes dealership, so has no problem with maintenance.
