We have two nukes here in Scotland. They produce about 50% of our electricity, the rest being mainly being Hydro Electric. My daughter's school took the kids on a tour of one, and asked for volunteer parents go go along and help the teachers, so I went along. Fascinating trip.

The safety normally practiced by nuclear engineers, in both the commercial world and military applications, is generally good in the UK (as far as can perceived).

These two plants are a different case altogether though.

One of them has been shut down. The other needs to be shut down. At least all the management should be fired and replaced with a new team with a better attitude towards safe practice.

/edit re the commies. Yes, there were some unusual things shipped to Russia towards the end of WW2 and beyond. The USA Left were an odd bunch post WW2. It was discussed on the FADG thread. Generally speaking though, these days the anti nuke organizations have little connection with communists.
