Brian, hasn't INTC been AMAT's largest customer for 15+ years.
Their fortunes are mutually linked. AMAT depends on purchases
from INTC as a major portion of its annual sales/revenues while
INTC depends on AMAT to deliver leading edge technology
production equipment that is necessary for delivering
constantly evolving/improving processors. These two
companies by their size and status have significant
influence on market dynamics...their relationships are
symbiotic and interdependent. The successes of each depend
upon each other. The market moves in the same direction that
they do, IMO.
