And don't want us to think about the countless other worlds out there, or science in general. God is simply a name for the ultimate mystery of it all, and anyone who says he knows why we're here just from some 3000 year old myth is full of it. Same with the after-life. Anyone who says there's a heaven or hell is just guessing. None of it's proveable. Because none of it's proveable, the religious right detests science, because science can prove things, not everything, but a lot of things, such as the fact that evolution is the only common sense explanation for life on earth. Of course how did the first spark of life in the universe begin? No one knows. And how did the universe begin? No one knows. Therein lies the mystery. But "God created the universe" is no explanation at all. All that means is MYSTERY, because what is God? There's no physical description for God whatsoever. Also, it's very unlikely that God is watching us, judging us or demanding our praise. Why would an all-powerful God care what we think? And why would such a God be so insecure as to need our constant praise. In fact no one can prove God exists, just that plenty of mystery exists, and some of that mystery is a wonderful thing. But we do know love exists, and Christ was about love. He was about everyone loving each other and getting along. Which is what the religious right is against. Let's face it, religious faith can be a great thing, but it should be a private thing and an inner thing, not a government thing or a public thing. Trying to argue religious doctrine as if it's fact is just absurd and dangerous. The founding fathers knew what to do, let all religious be held as equals, including the religion of no religion at all. It's called freedom. What this country stands for. The opposite of what the religious right stands for.
