"As I have said numerous times in the past. Deal with one problem at a time."

Sure. (Some people can't multi-task, I guess. :)

Makes sense to deal with the BIGGEST PROBLEMS first, though.

Here is an example of the typical debt reduction plan. simplejoe.com

Each pundit has their own plan. The one plan that most focus on is to concentrate on one debt and eliminate it while making minimum or near minimum payments to all other debts. Typically they will concentrate on the loan with the highest interest rate. Some will encourage the debtor to pick off the smallest to give them a sense of accomplishment. Another agreed upon principal is that the sooner the debtor starts paying down debt, the sooner it is paid off.

Please correct me if this is wrong, I think the US government borrows at the same rate regardless if the ultimate beneficiary program is Social Security and for Medicare.

My point is simply that while we argue about which to save first, we are racking up interest. Let us deal with Social Security, then with our financial house in better order we can come back and pick off Medicare.

Part of any solution is to recognize the actuarial value of the liabilities, and record the debt. Then we need to start making payments to get it down.

If he were not already dead, someone should choke Keynes' scrawny little pin headed neck for giving governments permission to start deficit spending. Shame on him. Shame on the politicians who took him up on it.

Let’s unite behind the only leader with a plan. President Bush has a plan, and it is better than no plan. Either sign on, or get a better plan into the national debate.
