Hi Mulholland,

I want to be careful how I respond to this.<g>

Our most valuable RE asset is probably our ski cabin. Unfortunately I built a lot of it with my own hands from the ground up over 20 years ago. This is a special case. I liken it to the birthing experience that women must go through. A home you build is different from any other capital investment. The psychological aspect of the invested blood, sweat and tears complicate the basis. I've had no problem selling other homes, even selling property that has been in the family for 3 and 4 generations, but sell the cabin? There just is no way that could happen. Whatever its current operating costs, it is worth it. I've never rented it. I will grow old(er) and die there first. <g>

OTOH its steady stable appreciation over the decades has also made it one of the best steady eddy appreciating assets we have. Count me as a buy and hold on that one.
