"to keep a certain percentage of the population gay."

Some possibilities come to mind. Homosexuals tend to be drawn to service type of occupations. There tends to be a disproportionate percentage of gays in the military, police forces and working in hospitals.

Okay. I have a different theory. First, there is the possibility of population control although the percentages are so small its really not worth the effort. Besides, homosexuality has existed throughout history.......in Man's early years, he needed every warm body he could get his hands on........population control was unnecessary.

However, what's unique to gays is that they are not bogged done with reproduction and the raising of children. That frees them in ways the rest of the population is not. That gives them more time to work on special projects, their careers, community concerns etc. For an example, Michaelangelo was said to be gay. Who else would have had the time to paint the Sistine Chapel? Alexander, the Great also was said to be gay......who else could have taken years from their family to explore the world? And if the particular society was gay phobic think of all that sexual energy brought to bear on someone's career.

Anyways that's the theory I came up with in a particularly boring psych class last Spring. <g>
