Who's respect do you think Bush has?

He seems to have the respect of most of the leaders of Europe. Putin was trying to figure out when he could meet with President Bush during his Balkan trip. Putin was pleased to have President Bush at the goose-stepping leftist rally in red square. Georgia, Ukraine and most of the Balkans are delighted to have President Bush's support. Even Kofi Annan respects President Bush; he used Clinton as his personal lap dog. The leaders of Central America except Cuba crony Venezuela seem to want to negotiate with the current administration. Even Kim Jong Il respects the President. The list of who respects him is very long.

Repects him because he represents the world's superpower and a financial giant, or because he commands respect? From what I read, its the former.

I said respect, not love. The 42nd President wanted to be loved (by foreign leaders, and in other sick ways). President Bush commands respect. Just because partisan whimperers in the US don't want to like him does not mean he is not respected.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be loved and cooperating with other nations to make things work better. To bad, you all think that's being soft. If you didn't, we might have avoided an expensive war.

Isn't Volker a banker? If so, what does he have to do with the UN?

How can you love an institution without knowing it?

Where did I say I love the UN?

Paul Volker preceded Alan Greenspan as head of the Federal Reserve. I am thinking Carter appointed Volker. Kofi Annan appointed Paul Volker to head up their internal investigation of the Oil for Saddam scandal.

Big deal.......the oil for saddam scandal as scandals go is a minor one. Its so interesting to me that you and the rest of the right are all over this like a bee on honey and pretty much ignore the billions in Iraq and now the $100 million lost in an asset sale lost under our watch. Are we this corrupt? If you don't want the middle name of hypocrisy, I suggest you be consistent and not partisan in these matters.

"The UN wants to subsume the role of world government. In one way it is ready; the UN is already as corrupt as the most corrupt national governments."

And you know this because........?

The things that are being said by UN officials. It is also natural that a governmental body (or in the UN's case pseudo governmental body) wants to grow its control and power. The UN has done this whenever possible. I know this because I am alert, pay attention to the news about the UN and its scandals, and because I can smell the coffee.

That's not what I was asking. You made a statement of fact that the UN is "as corrupt as the most corrupt national gov'ts". My question to you was: how do you know that?
