It sounds like the guy with the walnut trees made a really nice profit. I don't have the same emotional ties to walnut trees on private farm property that I do to old growth forests. I am assuming that the land is fairly flat and would not cause mudslides on someone else's property.

I do of course feel quite sorry for the ducks who were lured to that pond, just to be murdered. I live in a town where you see all the traffic stopping on very busy, multi-lane roads whenever a mother duck, goose or whatever other sweet bird needs to cross with her babies.

That is the thing folks don't understand. A mature forest with a 60' tall canopy is a desert underneath.

It is pretty and nice to walk through though. Nothing to get tangled in.
