UAL: defaulted on its pension obligations and gave them..to us. THey gave them to a government agency that last year took in $1b in premiums and doled out $12b in return. UAL retirees and employees received sizeable haircuts in their promised pensions while UAL executives have their pensions firmly in a trust that is out of bounds. One guy said that his pilot father is losing $3K/month. Delta, AA and other corporations are watching this to see if they can do the same thing: promise, go bankrupt, get corporate welfare, pay predatory executives, abuse employees, saddle the taxpayer with debt, emerge out of bankruptcy to run the company into the ground one final time.
