Nah. It is not close to the Clinton plan.

"There's Privatization, and then There's Privatization..."
delong.typepad.com

Remember Dr. DeLong was part of the Clinton administration so I suspect he knows!

Also, you keep suggesting that something happens when "there will be NO Social Security surplus to reduce Official Federal Deficit numbers". This is a fallacy.

If you want to tackle the problem, in your mind pretend SS and medicare don't exist. ALSO eliminate the payroll taxes that falls mostly on low and middle income Americans. Now you have a $650 Billion per year deficit. What do you do?

Fix that first. Then we can talk about Medicare and SS.

What is Bush's plan? You blame Clinton!??? Isn't that just typical. You cite a 1997 statement? The market was a different breed of animal back then. You stll haven't explained what Bush's "plan" is.

What happened when the CA retirement fund took a hit from the stock market drop? Taxpayers covered the shortfall. Who's going to cover a shortfall for taxpayers at risk in a highly volatile market. Most folks don't care, aren't interested in, don't understand the market. SS is insurance. Playing the market for most folks is a crapshoot.
