KB I agreed with your article here, it is very hard to take a loss and decide that you really don't understand the price actions of a stock (or at least don't understand enough to predict the price action). Also I think you and others advocate many times the virtue of having stop loss (or at least a mental stop loss) in place. The oil price drop to 48+ this morning was a surprise. I checked all my facts and data and got to admit that I don't understand why it drop so much (unless the market is predicting some kind of reduction on demands). I traded out of all my energy position (VLO and PTEN). I am profitable on both of them but wished I have use some stop loss (VLO was up 100% for me when it was at 80. Now it is up about 25% after all said and done. PTEN up very slight, probably enough for a trip to Hawaii but not much more). Since I view investment as playing poker, right now it is a game that I don't understand and I need to stand aside for awhile to understand it more.
