It seemed in MM in the early 80's you would blast through to 6 just by getting your name right on the test by the minimum amount of TIR but to make Chief usually took several years after testing the first time at 3 years.

We are booting E-6's left and right who haven't made E-7 by 20. And yes, we're booting E-4's for not making E-5 by 10 and booting E-5 who don't make E-6 by 14.

Why? If we are having problems getting enough people why boot more enlisted. I could see booting the officers who don't move up after a certain number of years but it would seem that the enlisted would fill a need if we kept them in.
