re: When the White House was under 'attack' yesterday...

I wonder if the whole thing was a "play" put on for the benefit of would be terrorists. Assume that you are thinking of trying to put a small plane through the front door of the WH, and you saw this thing unfold. You would abandon the idea as unworkable, no?

Also pretty strange that they never told the president that the WH may be under attack until after the fact. Maybe they didn't have the sequel to My Pet Goat with them.

"it was reported Mr. Bush was off bike riding in some suburb of DC. Does he ever do any work?"

And apparently he wasn't considered to be important enough to inform of it...

A single-engine plane bearing down on Washington without clearance prompted a frantic evacuation of the Capitol, the Supreme Court and the White House on Wednesday. President Bush was not told of the threat until he finished a bicycle ride at a Maryland wildlife center, nearly 40 minutes after the plane had been forced to turn away, administration officials said.
