There is one date that everybody knows - the length of Bush's second term. Beyond that, any date-giving should be done privately.

I think any foreigner reading this particular thread would have a hard time recognizing the US as "a peace loving nation". Sort of reminds me about how I used to get all these "everybody hates war" lectures when I'd call the local war cheerleaders on their gleefulness about the impending hostilities, when they were impending. I am mordantly amused to see a moderate abatement of the gloating triumphalism of the immediate post-election period, though I'm sure there'll be another PR offensive coming up soon.

Anyway, elsewhere on the warblogging front, I noticed in passing in some overheard bitt of random W spoutage a "purple revolution" reference. Having never heard the term used before, I looked it up and found these curiously similar entries: baghdadmuseum.org en.wikipedia.org . Them warbloggers seem to be having an influence in high places, though personally I wouldn't consider that a good thing.
