I took another listen on the FOX web site just now.

foxnews.com

I missed this part of Voinovich's speech earlier because of a phone call......"We owe it to the president to give Mr. Bolton an up or down vote on the floor." I would have bet differently if I didn't now know better.

I don't think there is any doubt that Bolton will be our next UN ambassador. I sure hope he makes a difference. There need to be some long needed changes imo.

i think the same republican senators you named will vote down nuke option too. Chafee already got his hands full running for election in rhode Island. I expect he may not get much rnc support if he votes against nuke option esp. if they need his vote.

I am waiting for nuke option to come on the floor and see where hagel stands on this vote. If he is serious about running for president voting against could be his own death wish.

vote came in 10 to 8 to move bolton to floor for up and down vote.

Voinovich portrayed Bolton, now the top arms-control diplomat at the State Department, as "arrogant" and "bullying."

We need someone who knows how to kick ass at the UN.

And...

The UN needs someone who knows how to kick ass at the UN

I am not so arrogant to think that I should impose my judgment and perspective of the U.S. position in the world community on the rest of my colleagues," he added.

"We owe it to the president to give Mr. Bolton an up or down vote on the floor."

Presumably, that means Voinovich will vote against Bolton in the full Senate.

LOL

Then, Voinovich will be able to brag that he voted for Bolton before he voted against him.
