But then, a lot of those folks hold a seven/three offsuit and raise me when there are a pair of tens on the board and I'm raising back. This happened to me last night. I was holding a 10/Ace. The guy played that way for about 10 hands, busted out and left. One of the other players even asked him, "are you trying to lose money?" If it had been live, I would have kicked him under the table to tell him to shut up and let the guy give us his money. What happens is, a lot of folks just won't do the study necessary to be able to figure out which hands to play and figure pot odds and implied odds. They see Gus Hansen on tv going all in with a pair of 3s and winning a million bucks and think that's the way to play. They aren't aware that Gus has been setting up players for the past 4 days of the tournament and knew who would call and who would fold immediately. These weak players are fleeced by those who are not lazy. When they bust out, they tell everyone the games are fixed. Well, they are. Better players win over time. I know several people who make a living gambling online. I'm not that good or that risk oriented. I love to read the comments on HomePoker.com. There are always a couple of guys who say only stupid players win at this site or that and the software is cracked. It just isn't so in my opinion. Yes, you do see more odd hands online than in brick and mortar, but that's because you see many more hands per hour. Sometimes 100 games an hour at some short-handed tables. Others say that the first time you cash out at a site, you have a black mark next to your name and never win again. I've cashed out thousands and still win at about the same rate I've always won at. (and which I'd like to improve upon). The simple fact is that the guys who started PartyPoker.Com are going to raise 3-5 Billion pounds in their IPO in London. They are not going to risk that payoff to skin $100 from some newbie from Skokie.
