I'm curious: are you allowed to plug iPods or any other Firewire device into a military PC?
----------------------------

Most people here in Iraq have two computers. One on the secret network and another on the non-secure version of internet.

I got tons of requests from folks who want to plug their iPods into the non-secure terminals. No problem here, they just have to be discrete.

So far no fools have requested to plug into a secret machine. They can plug into the secret machine if they want, but then their iPod and everything on it becomes classified property of the US government.

The only way for them to get it back is for a low level wipe of the hard drive at a secure disposal facility in Bethesda, Maryland afterwrd, the drive platters are ground to a fine powder and then melted into ingots that are labelled and serial numbered in case they need to be recalled.

The components of the iPod motherboard are incinerated, but they get to keep the battery and chassis.
