>>spend half a billion loonies building two 'fast' ferries<<

Fast ferries have been catching on in Alaska, and more are being built. I'm not aware of any wake problem, so perhaps yours had a different design. Ours have lightweight aluminum catamaran hull construction.

<grizzlies go out on the ice more now than before, and that this is a sign of general warming>

I suppose grizzly bears are somewhat conspicuous out on the ice, so the seals see them coming and escape, leaving the grizzly starving to death. The albino version can sneak up [keeping eyes shut so the seal sees only a moving pile of snow].

After 10 generations, I suppose an instant polar bear is created. A few dunkings would probably be needed to eliminate grizzly genes which hesitate at a swim or don't do it well.

Wolves were bred into sausage dogs and poodles in a fairly short time, so making a white grizzly with water-tight fur should have been pretty easy.

I used to travel by train to see my parents in Devon, I don't like flying, but these days for £50 return I fly from Glasgow to Exeter in about an hour.
