Hi - Long time no see. I was just thinking about you today, actually, battling shooting sciatica pains during lunchtime yoga session and wondering WHEN that time will come when this stuff will actually start being easy. And thanks for the congratulations :-)

I can't say I know much about the 12-step program of AA. I think that doctor's point there is that the physical addiction can be cured quite quickly and through physical treatment.

Of course this does not mean that ex-addict will not need AA-type spiritual/psychological support in order to stay clean. But his physical craving will be gone. And he will have no withdrawal pains (which are a real deterrent to kicking certain opiate habits).
