RE: "Physician pay has been pretty stagnant for a long time now. A big reason why is that the med schools have been cranking out doctors regardless of the demand."

It's stagnant because insurance companies have hired MBAs over the 90s to hammer the prices out with the doctor contracts.

The cost of an angio is now less than $5k when it used to be $15k a decade ago.

The insurance companies hammered prices down across the industry. Meanwhile those areas where insurance companies don't cover, are areas where prices do not get hammered by insurance companies.

Insurance companies bring the customers, so they have the power of supplying the revenue.

Meanwhile, supply of doctor is kept tight by AMA thru their influence. Poor performing doctors don't get replaced, when they should. Unfilled positions exists. So we end up with a lesser competitive medical industry.

RE: "talent will go alternative energy"

Well, that would be good.

Hey, did you hear the new song - it's a rock song and the words started with something about "This is Calfironia to the oilman President". And it basically rants. How funny. Lizzie, have you heard it? First time I ever heard it was today. Sounds a bit like that singer that's always making fun of other singers - forgot his name - Al Yankavitch (sp?)
