Agriculture Classes


Junior High Agriculture - a semester class for grades 7 and 8.

Introduction to Agriculture - this beginning agriculture involving plant science, animal science, leadership development class is for 9th and 10th graders.

Floriculture - students learn the basics of floral design.

Viticulture - students will develop and maintain the school vineyard.

Ornamental Horticulture - students learn the basics of growing and caring for ornamental plants.

Agriculture Mechanics - this class is for students interested in small engines, welding and construction.

Agriculture Enterprise Management - an independent study course for seniors interested in developing and maintaining an individual project.

On the coast, they have marine studies, too...

Advanced Animal Science : These students utilize Animal Science internship opportunities throughout the community and the Student Farm. Students can be found at various Vet offices, the Humane Society and local feed stores. The students learn to groom, feed, assist or observe surgeries, and practice livestock management. The classroom provides rigorous reinforcement for the field work.

Marine Science students have teamed up with Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game. This year their research includes abalone, sea urchins, ling cod and rock fish. They also study a variety of marine ecosystems, marine biology, aquaculture and oceanography.

Integrated AgScience1 and Integrated AgScience2 offers students a variety of projects and models to learn ways Agriculture and Science are interrelated. Ag Projects: This team has been busy making improvements and additions to the Student Farm. Besides projects of their own, they also prepare experiments and models for other classes. Introduction to Agriculture is a class composed of ninth graders exploring many of the facets of AgriScience. They do a variety of livestock, plant and marine projects including gardening, raising lambs, and constructing the new Marine Lab addition.
