If you say life begins at some point then it is clear you are saying that it was non-life before that point.

Life began about 4 billion years ago (on this planet) and has not died out since. There are lots of combinations and permutations since then, but none of them can be called new life, only a continuation of the living process.

I agree that conception is a significant event, but to say it is new life only a catchy slogan, not a scientific concept.
